THREE
PIECES COME TOGETHER FOR ONE DAY OF ANTIWAR MOVEMENT BUILDING!
Over a month of deliberations the March 24
Coalition developed an event format that tries to capture both the
unity and the broad diversity of the antiwar movement: everyone
wanting to speak to the movement will find a place in the Peace and
Justice Festival! At the same time, yielding to the call the
movement needs shorter programs with fewer long speeches, the
coalition is organizing a short burst of 6, 10-minute presentations
by speakers who will represent the unity of the antiwar movement
will representing the diversity of its issues. Here how it works:
(1) We will have an all-day Peace & Justice
Festival that features open mikes, individual stalls, tents and
tables for organizations and groups, cultural performances. These
events give near complete control to the individuals and
organizations for shaping their messages and for plugging people
into upcoming activities, etc.
(2) The 4th Anniversary March lasting 1.5 hours
will cut its way through downtown Boston generating visibility for
our cause.
(3) Six speakers and 2 MCs will rally the crowd
under to 2 central calls: (i) Stop the War!; (ii) Troops Home Now!
The speakers will veterans, young people, immigrants, labor and
leading antiwar speakers.
